Nasarawa Amazons emerged champions of the 2026 President Federation Cup after defeating Heartland Queens 6-5 on penalties following a thrilling 1-1 draw in regulation time at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
The highly entertaining final saw both teams produce moments of quality before the title was eventually decided in a tense penalty shootout.
Heartland Queens broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half when Chizoba Johnson finished calmly to give the Owerri-based side a deserved 1-0 lead in the 47th minute.
Nasarawa Amazons responded strongly and found the equaliser in the 65th minute through substitute Adaobi Judith, who reacted quickest to a goalmouth scramble to level the scores shortly after coming off the bench.
Despite both sides pushing for a winner during the remainder of regulation time and added time, neither team could find the decisive goal, forcing the final into penalties.
In the shootout, Nasarawa Amazons held their nerve to edge Heartland Queens 6-5 and secure the prestigious women’s Federation Cup title.
The triumph capped an impressive campaign for the Lafia-based club, who celebrated another major domestic honour after a hard-fought contest against a resilient Heartland Queens side.
