‘We Want to Do the Double’ — Rakel FA Coach Ogundeyi Eyes U-17 Glory After U-15 Triumph

Rakel Football Academy head coach Adeyinka Ogundeyi has set his sights on completing a remarkable double at the FEMMCO Football Championship August Camping 2026, following his team’s impressive triumph in the U-15 category.

Rakel FA produced a dominant campaign to emerge U-15 champions, and Ogundeyi believes the success was the reward for hard work, dedication and the quality of football displayed by his young players throughout the competition.

Speaking to Sports247, the title-winning coach described the experience as a memorable one for both himself and his players.

“It has been a very wonderful experience for both I and the boys. I can categorically say we worked for it. It was a huge challenge, but with God’s help, dedication and beautiful football displayed, we were able to come out victorious.”

Beyond the trophy, Ogundeyi praised the FEMMCO competition for its contribution to grassroots football development, describing the organisation and overall experience as impressive.

According to the coach, the tournament represents the type of initiative that deserves wider support from stakeholders within the football industry.

“This is the kind of project we are expecting everyone involved in football business to support. The experience we have gotten from this competition is top-notch.”

He also applauded the organisers for the quality of accommodation, reception and competition, adding that Rakel FA would be back when the tournament returns next year.

“We will be here next year for the next year’s competition.”

However, the U-15 title is not the end of Rakel FA’s ambitions. Ogundeyi revealed that the academy remains involved in the U-17 category and is already preparing for their next challenge.

“We are going to stay focused and plan for our next match. We are still in other categories in the competition, especially the U-17 category.”

Rakel FA are set to contest their U-17 semi-final, with the coach hoping his players can maintain their momentum and advance to the final.

Asked whether the academy is targeting a historic double, Ogundeyi was unequivocal.

“Exactly, that is the plan.”

With the U-15 crown already secured, Rakel FA now have another opportunity to underline their strength across age categories—and Ogundeyi believes the academy has the determination to finish the competition with two trophies.
