NWFL Nationwide: Ubakala Babes Hit Six as Lakeside Queens Soar on Matchday Two

The race for promotion to the 2027 NWFL Championship intensified on Matchday Two of the 2026 NWFL Nationwide Competition, with 10 goals scored across four encounters in Aba, Abia State.

Sports247 reports that the day’s biggest winners were Ubakala Babes, who produced a stunning 6-1 victory over NAF Queens in Group C, while Lakeside Queens also recorded an impressive away-style triumph over Bayelsa Princesses. Two other fixtures ended goalless.

In Group A, Spunky Blazers FA and Kwara United Ladies played out a 0-0 draw in a closely contested encounter. Both teams shared the points after failing to find the breakthrough, leaving the group delicately poised ahead of the final round.

Lakeside Queens delivered one of the standout performances of the day in Group B, defeating Bayelsa Princesses 3-0. Farida Olawumi was the star of the show, scoring twice in the 26th and 44th minutes before Chioma Dickson completed the victory with a 55th-minute strike.

The result strengthened Lakeside Queens’ promotion push and provided an emphatic response as the Ogun State side continues its campaign for a place in the NWFL Championship.

The most dramatic result came in Group C, where Ubakala Babes dismantled NAF Queens 6-1. NAF Queens initially found the net through Eigbe-Peter Favour in the 16th minute, but Ubakala Babes responded with a devastating attacking display.

Uchenna Obinna scored twice in the 10th and 20th minutes, while Ogolo Blessing added another in the 22nd minute. Chidimma Augustine then joined the scoring party with a brace in the 63rd and 67th minutes, while Monday Favour struck in the 65th minute to complete the rout.

In Group D, Obosa FA and Osklean Queens settled for another 0-0 draw, with neither side able to convert their opportunities into a winning goal.

With the group stages approaching their decisive final round, every point has become increasingly valuable as the clubs battle for semi-final places and, ultimately, automatic promotion to the 2027 NWFL Championship.

Matchday Two in numbers: 10 goals, four matches, two victories and two draws. The promotion race is heating up in Aba.
