Fanny Amun Promises That NFF’s Fact Finding Committee Will Be Diligent, Thorough In Their Investigations

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) fact-finding committee chairman, Ambassador Fanny Ikhayere Amun has promised that he and other members of the investigative panel will undertake a diligent and thorough review of recent setbacks that have hit the country’s national teams.

Sports247 reports that Amun, who is a former secretary-general of the NFF, erstwhile technical director and one-time Super Eagles assistant coach, gave the pledge during the formal inauguration of the committee at the football secretariat on Monday in Abuja.

He spoke positively about the ‘important’ task at hand after NFF president, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau formally gave the committee its terms of reference and charged all its members to use their many years of experience in various areas of football to arrive at credible solutions to prevent any future mishaps.

The former coach-turned-administrator and publisher, who handled the FIFA U17 World Cup-winning Golden Eaglets’ squad of 1993 in Japan, also assured that everyone in the committee will work with all their strength, in order to arrive at credible answers that would prevent any further slides for Nigerian football.

He also admitted that the duty before him and the panel deserves full hearted attention and extensive interactions, which he believes they will accomplish with support from relevant stakeholders and people who are directly involved with the affected national teams that are under review.

Amun further promised that everyone in the committee will face the task with a high sense of responsibility and as a devotion to national duty, knowing fully that their decisions would have many implications on future prospects of the game.

He concluded with a strong hint that they will speak to persons who are directly connected with the issues at hand, while also checking on any relevant memoranda from concerned members of the public.

Amun acknowledged that he and all the committee members have an elaborate task on their hands, as he posited: “We see this as a call to a very important national duty. It is not something that can be approached half-heartedly.

“We have to immerse ourselves fully into the processes and come out with a report that all who have a stake in the Nigerian game will be proud of. We must endeavor to speak the truth at all times and be very diligent.”

Sports247 gathered further that other members of the committee are Super Falcons’ former captain, Desire Oparanozie; ex-Super Eagles’ midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju; and Flying Eagles’ erstwhile coach, Isah Ladan Bosso.

Also in the committee are former FIFA referee and instructor, Dr Alex Mana as well as ex-international and deputy director in the NFF’s technical department, Nasiru Jibril, who will serve as secretary of the panel.
