Head coach Usman Abdallah has admitted that the battle for survival remains intense after Remo Stars secured a hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over Bayelsa United in Ikenne.
The defending champions were stunned early in the encounter after conceding an opening goal, but they responded strongly to overturn the deficit and claim a vital three points in front of their home supporters. The result keeps their survival hopes alive heading into the final matchday of the season.
Speaking after the match, Abdallah acknowledged the pressure surrounding the relegation battle and emphasized the importance of maintaining belief until the very end.
“The struggle continues,” the Remo Stars boss said. “Yes, we thank Allah for giving us the victory. We expected the game to be tough, so there are no surprises. I don’t think Bayelsa United are out of it either, but we managed to come back and grab the maximum three points.”
The victory could prove decisive for Remo Stars, as another win in their final fixture would move them clear of relegation danger and secure their top-flight status for another season.
Despite the difficult campaign, Abdallah remains optimistic about his side’s chances, especially considering their recent performances away from home.
“We have been doing well away from home. Against Bendel Insurance in the last game, we just have to win. We shouldn’t be counted out. We just have to win,” he added.
Attention now shifts to the final round of fixtures, where every point will carry enormous significance in the relegation battle. For Remo Stars, the mission is clear — avoid mistakes, secure victory, and complete the great escape.
