Former Golden Eaglets midfielder Joshua Daniel has welcomed the appointment of Eboboritse Uwejamomere as the new head coach of Nigeria’s U-17 national team.
Reacting to the decision by the Nigeria Football Federation, Daniel described the move as a bold but potentially rewarding step.
“He can deliver,” he said.
According to the former youth international, although Uwejamomere is still relatively young, he possesses the potential to succeed if given enough support, time, and resources.
“He needs patience and backing,” he implied.
Daniel suggested that the federation’s recent frustrations with more experienced coaches may have influenced the decision to turn toward a younger manager with fresh ideas.
“They probably wanted something different,” he noted.
He also pointed to the coach’s recent work at youth level with Sporting Lagos as evidence that there are encouraging signs for the future.
“He has shown promise,” he added.
For Daniel, youth football requires innovation, energy, and an understanding of modern player development.
“Young coaches can connect better,” he stressed.
He emphasized that immediate judgment would be unfair, insisting that the coach should be allowed to build his project properly.
“Success takes time,” he said.
The appointment marks another significant shift in Nigeria’s approach to youth football development.
For Daniel, the message is clear.
Trust the process.
Support the coach.
And allow new ideas to grow.
Because sometimes progress begins when football is willing to take a different path.
