Speaking on the future of Nigerian table tennis, Toriola explained that the federation has been working on a structured transition strategy to ensure continuity when senior players eventually retire.

“We already have a succession plan,” he said.

According to the former international, young talents such as Matthew Kuti are being prepared to step into bigger roles in the future.

“The next generation is coming,” he implied.

Toriola stressed that planning ahead is essential in maintaining Nigeria’s strong presence in African table tennis.

“You must prepare early,” he noted.

He also praised the efforts of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation in creating pathways for younger players to develop.

“The federation is working,” he added.

For the coach, smooth transition is critical because relying too heavily on one player for too long can create problems later.

“You cannot wait until retirement,” he stressed.

Aruna Quadri remains Nigeria’s biggest table tennis star, but Toriola believes the future remains bright if development continues properly.

“We have talented players coming through,” he said.

As Nigerian table tennis continues to evolve, attention is gradually shifting toward building the next generation of champions.

For Toriola, the message is clear.

Plan ahead.

Develop young players.

And protect continuity.

Because sustainable success comes from preparation long before change arrives.
