‘We Need A New Direction’ Majekodunmi Defends Appointment — NFF Chief Backs Young Coach For Golden Eaglets

Executive committee member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ganiyu Majekodunmi, has expressed strong support for the appointment of Eboboritse Uwejamomere as the new head coach of the Golden Eaglets.

Speaking on the decision, Majekodunmi insisted that Nigerian football cannot continue operating the same way after recent disappointments at youth level.

“We cannot continue going in circles,” he said.

According to the NFF youth football committee chairman, modern football now requires younger, smarter coaches who understand the evolving demands of the game.

“We need fresh ideas,” he implied.

Majekodunmi explained that Uwejamomere’s appointment reflects the federation’s desire to embrace a new approach following the struggles of the country’s youth teams in recent years.

“There is a need for change,” he noted.

He also praised the new coach’s competence and potential, stressing that youth development demands innovation and adaptability.

“He has shown ability,” he added.

For the NFF official, bringing in younger coaches could help create stronger connections with modern players and improve long-term development.

“Football is changing,” he stressed.

Majekodunmi emphasized that the federation remains focused on rebuilding Nigeria’s youth football structures and restoring competitiveness.

“We want progress,” he said.

The appointment has already generated debate among football stakeholders, but the federation appears determined to stand by its decision.

For Majekodunmi, the message is clear.

Embrace new ideas.

Trust capable young coaches.

And rebuild the future.

Because youth football success depends on evolution—not repetition.
