Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mohammed Sanusi, has revealed that Nigerians should expect several fresh names in the upcoming Super Eagles squad for the Unity Cup.
Speaking on preparations for the tournament, Sanusi confirmed that the squad will include a mix of players from the domestic league and talents born abroad.
“There will be many new faces,” he said.
According to the NFF official, the Unity Cup presents an opportunity to broaden the national team’s talent pool and assess emerging options.
“It’s a chance to experiment,” he implied.
Sanusi explained that the selections are part of a wider strategy to identify players who can contribute to the future of the Super Eagles.
“We want to build depth,” he noted.
He also confirmed that several established stars, including Victor Osimhen, will be exempted from the competition.
“Some senior players will rest,” he added.
For the federation, the tournament serves as a platform to evaluate home-based talents alongside diaspora players in a competitive environment.
“We want balance,” he stressed.
Sanusi emphasized that giving opportunities to new players is important for long-term squad development and competition within the team.
“It keeps everyone sharp,” he said.
As anticipation builds ahead of the Unity Cup, fans will be eager to see which players earn their chance.
For Sanusi, the message is clear.
Open the door to new talent.
Expand the squad.
And prepare for the future.
Because successful national teams are built on depth, competition, and constant renewal.
