‘The Women’s League Is Our Foundation’ Falode Pushes Development — NFF Targets Stronger Future For Women’s Football

Speaking on the progress of the women’s game, Falode stressed that the Nigerian women’s league remains the primary source of talent for the country’s various national teams.

“The league is our foundation,” she said.

According to her, strengthening the domestic structure is essential for sustaining the success of teams like the Super Falcons and Falconets.

“It produces our talents,” she implied.

Falode also highlighted the need for greater investment in capacity building across all levels of the women’s game.

“We must develop everyone involved,” she noted.

She specifically pointed to coaches, referees, and players as key areas where training and education are needed to improve standards.

“They are critical to the future,” she added.

For the NFF board member, long-term success in women’s football depends on creating a strong ecosystem rather than focusing only on national team performances.

“It’s about building structures,” she stressed.

She also expressed confidence that continued investment will help Nigeria maintain its position as a leading force in African women’s football.

“We want sustained success,” she said.

As women’s football continues to grow globally, Nigeria faces increasing pressure to evolve and modernize its systems.

For Falode, the message is clear.

Invest in the league.

Develop the people.

And strengthen the foundation.

Because the future of women’s football starts at home.
