BFN President Francis Orbih Relishes Turnout Of Participants At 9th Lagos International Badminton Classics

The president of Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Chief Francis Orbih has stated delight and appreciation over the turnout of participants in the ongoing 9th Lagos International Badminton Classics at the National Institute for Sports (NIS) gymnasium complex.

Sports247 reports that Orbih cherished the unfolding excitement at the venue inside the premises of Lagos National Stadium, Surulere, as a total of 166 players from 27 countries are competiing in the classics, which will come to a pulsating end on Saturday.

While describing the contest as very exciting, Orbih also commended the level of interest from participating countries and disclosed that the competition has a total prize of US$20,000, which underscores its status in the international badminton calendar.

He added that the BFN is committed to a well-organised championship that would further enhance Nigeria’s reputation as a destination for hosting international events, then thanked the NIS’ director-general, Comrade Phillip Shuaibu and his staff for making the venue available.

Orbih asserted, “Their support has been crucial to our preparations, and we are grateful for their cooperation. The response from participating countries has also been very encouraging.

“The US$20,000 prize money demonstrates the level of importance attached to this competition. We want the players to have every motivation to give their best and put on great performances.”
