Edo Queens head coach Kennedy Boboye has heaped praise on teenage sensation Oluwakemi Adegbuyi following another impressive performance by the 16-year-old at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifying Tournament.
Sports247 reports that Adegbuyi has quickly emerged as one of Edo Queens’ standout performers, playing a key role in the Nigerian champions’ impressive start to the competition.

The No. 20 was named Woman of the Match after scoring the opening goal in Edo Queens’ 3-1 victory over ASEC Mimosas, a result that secured the team’s second consecutive Group B win and confirmed their place in the semifinals with one match still to play.
The teenager had already made her presence felt in the opening fixture, scoring during Edo Queens’ emphatic 7-0 victory over AS GNN of Niger.
Boboye, impressed by her pace, work rate and attacking contribution, believes the young forward has a bright future ahead of her but urged that her development must be carefully managed.
“I pray she doesn’t have injury in her career. She is already in the U-17 for Nigeria. Her speed and effort put her in the standout performers list despite being 16 years,” Boboye said.
Adegbuyi’s emergence on the continental stage is the latest chapter in what has been a remarkable rise since her outstanding campaign in the 2025/26 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) season.
Representing FC Robo Queens, she enjoyed a breakthrough campaign that earned her major individual recognition, being crowned NWFL Player of the Season and recipient of the Golden Ball Award.
FC Robo Queens celebrated the youngster’s achievement after her performances throughout the campaign established her as one of the league’s standout players and an important figure for the Lagos-based club.
Her transition from domestic success to continental football has been seamless so far. Adegbuyi has shown confidence beyond her years, contributing goals and consistently posing a threat to opposing defences. She is also already part of the Nigeria U-17 setup, further highlighting her standing among the country’s emerging talents.
With Edo Queens now through to the semifinals, attention will remain firmly on the teenage forward as she continues to develop under the guidance of Boboye and the club’s technical team.
