Sixteen-year-old Oluwakemi Adegbuyi has continued to announce herself on the continental stage after being named Woman of the Match following Edo Queens’ impressive 3-1 victory over ASEC Mimosas in the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League Qualifying Tournament.
Sports247 reports that rhe Edo Queens No. 20 delivered another outstanding performance to help the Nigerian champions secure their second consecutive Group B victory and book their place in the semifinals with one group fixture still to play.

Adegbuyi’s impact was once again evident in front of goal. The teenage forward opened the scoring in the 23rd minute against ASEC Mimosas, setting Edo Queens on their way to another important victory.
The former FC Robo player performance follows an equally impressive display in the opening match against AS GNN of Niger, where she also found the net during Edo Queens’ emphatic 7-0 victory.
Her ability to contribute at such a high level despite being only 16 has made Adegbuyi one of the standout young performers of the tournament.
Following the final whistle against ASEC Mimosas, the talented youngster was presented with her Woman of the Match award by President of the Burkinabè Football Federation and First Vice-President of WAFU-B, Mr. Oumarou Sawadogo, alongside WAFU-B Executive Director, Mr. Philippe Tchere.
The recognition caps another memorable outing for the young Nigerian, whose pace, energy and attacking determination have provided Edo Queens with an additional threat in the final third.
Her emergence has also earned praise from Edo Queens head coach Kennedy Boboye, who highlighted her potential while stressing the importance of protecting her development.
Adegbuyi is already part of the Nigeria U-17 setup, and her performances in Burkina Faso will further increase expectations surrounding her future. For Edo Queens, her emergence could prove invaluable as they enter the decisive stages of the tournament.
The Nigerian champions have now secured six points from two matches and progressed to the semifinals, with their final group game against Ampem Darkoa Ladies still to come. At just 16, Adegbuyi is already making her mark against senior opposition.
