Sporting Lagos academy graduate Seun Akanji played a decisive role in Lillestrøm Sportsklubb’s dramatic UEFA Europa League playoff triumph over Egnatia, providing the match-winning assist that secured the Norwegian club’s passage to the next stage of European competition.
Sports247 reports that Akanji made his European debut in the first leg, coming off the bench as Lillestrøm were held to a goalless draw by Egnatia. The result left the tie finely balanced heading into the return fixture, where both teams battled for a place in the Europa League.

Egnatia took the lead in the 33rd minute through Eljon Sota, who converted after being set up by Fernando Medeiros. Lillestrøm responded strongly but had to wait until the 82nd minute to find the equaliser.
Sander Moen Foss restored parity after receiving an assist from Ylldren Ibrahimaj, taking the tie into extra time with the aggregate score level.

In the 94th minute, Akanji delivered a crucial assist for Thomas Lehne Olsen, who converted to give Lillestrøm a dramatic 2-1 victory on the night and a 2-1 aggregate triumph.
