This week’s IOC/BFN Badminton Level 2 Technical Coaching Course in Abuja has been described as an initiative that will further enhance the quality of training for players in the racquet sport all across Nigeria, while also providing participants with advanced technical knowledge.
Sports247 gathered that the course, which will start this Friday and end next Saturday, is also expected to provide participants with fresh ideas in practical badminton coaching skills and modern methodologies that are required for the effective development of players.
These points were revealed by Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) public relations officer, Tony Nezianya, who stated further in a press release that the nine-day technical coaching programme is being organised to strengthen the capacity of badminton coaches in the country.
While noting that the course will also promote sustainable development of the sport in Nigeria, Nezianya appealed to all stakeholders to support the initiative as part of a collective effort at strengthening the development and excellence of badminton in the country.
Nezianya added that the NOC, in collaboration with the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), remains committed to the development of the sport through education, capacity building as well as continuous development of coaches and technical officials.
“The IOC/BFN Badminton Technical Coaching Course Level 2 is expected to further enhance the quality of badminton coaching in Nigeria. (It will) contribute to the identification and development of young talents capable of competing successfully at national and international levels.
“The programme is expected to bring together selected badminton coaches and technical personnel from across the country for intensive theoretical and practical sessions
“The key areas of focus will include modern coaching techniques, technical and tactical development, athlete preparation, training planning, talent identification, competition management and application of international badminton standards,” Nezianya submitted.
