Newly drafted Nigerian-born youngster at Atlanta Hawks, Zuby Ejiofor has gained massive superlatives from experts of the giants’ game, following his form in the Summer League, which marks his bright start to life as a player in USA’s National Basketball Association (NBA).
Sports247 reports that the latest spotlight for the Hawks’ rookie, whose full name is Chukwuebuka Ejiofor, came after he got 13 points, six rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals across 27 minutes in Saturday’s 83-76 NBA Summer League win over Brooklyn Nets.
A report by CBS Sport revealed, “Ejiofor was a pest defensively, compiling five stocks while anchoring Atlanta in the paint. The big man also made an impact offensively, scoring in double figures and knocking down a pair of triples. Ejiofor has shown flashes of promise so far in the Summer League.
“(However,) carving out a consistent frontcourt role during the regular season could prove difficult with Jock Landale (ankle), Mouhamed Gueye and fellow rookie Henri Veesaar all vying for minutes behind starting center Onyeka Okongwu.”
Brian Dailisan added: “The No. 23 overall pick has already stacked up useful defensive production, following a 12-point, four-rebound, three-assist outing Thursday and a 19-point, 15-rebound effort Monday.
“Ejiofor averaged 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.1 blocks at St. John’s last season, so the blocks, boards, and passing are not coming out of nowhere. His defensive activity is doing most of the fantasy heavy lifting, which could matter if Atlanta trusts him in a reserve role.”
Raphielle Johnson also stated, “When Ejiofor established position, he wasn’t being moved off his spot. He was more efficient offensively, and the comfort level shooting three-pointers is a pleasant surprise. Even with the competition set to ramp up considerably in the fall, Ejiofor should be in the Hawks’ rotation.”
With the 22-year-old power forward’s heroics coming just few weeks after he was selected with the 23rd overall pick by The Hawks on June 23rd, 2026, Yahoo Sports’ senior NBA analyst, Kevin O’Connor noted: “The Atlanta rookie is just what the team needs after last season’s surprising run to the playoffs.”
Sports247 reports further that great expectations are now heralding the arrival of Ejiofor, who attended Garland High School in Garland, Texas, where he averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds per game as a junior and, as a senior, he averaged 22 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks and two steals per game.
