Borussia Dortmund’s Nigerian-born midfielder, Karim Adeyemi appears to be edging closer to a summer transfer deal with FC Barcelona of Spain, as officials at his current club have confirmed ongoing talks about his future, Sports247 reports.
Information on offer from Germany indicates how Dortmund disclosed that Adeyemi was not present at the team’s performance tests last weekend due to his ongoing ‘talks about joining another club.’
Adeyemi’s absence comes at a point when he is reportedly holding transfer talks with Barca, where the player’s personal terms were agreed weeks ago, leaving only a formal endorsement between both clubs to be achieved.
However, the deal is now expected to be completed this week, as Barcelona have been able to leverage both the winger’s desire to join them and the fact that his contract expires next summer.
Renowned global trasnfers expert, Fabrizio Romano disclosed that the deal that has been accepted by Dortmund for Adeyemi is 22 million euros fixed, plus 7 million in add-ons, all of which will eventually be made public in the course of this week.
Dortmund also tacitly acknowledged that negotiations between them and Barca are at an advanced stage, enough for them to allow Adeyemi skip the medical tests that usually take place before pre-season.
“Karim Adeyemi and Kjell Watjen are missing performance diagnostics. Both players have been excused due to talks with other clubs,” Dortmund disclosed via social media on Sunday.
