Nigeria’s men’s basketball national team, D’Tigers have their eyes focused on a clash with Cameroon on August 27th at the start of the decisive window in the 2027 FIBA World Cup African Qualification Tournament, with five tickets to the global showpiece in Qatar up for grabs.
Sports247 reports that, apart from their opening clash with Cameroon in Group E, D’Tigers will also face South Sudan on August 28th, while their final game of the window will be against Cape Verde on August 30th, with all the fixtures taking place in Radès, Tunisia.

D’Tigers will again be coached by American tactician, David Fizdale, who will be assisted by Dan Craig, Quinton Crawford, Deji Akindele and Dapo Adegbile, as they seek victories across three games in the second round of the qualifiers, which would increase their qualification chances.
The Nigerian team will be propelled by their favourable statistics against Cameroon, which they have beaten in three out of four encounters, while a perfect record also gives them bragging rights against South Sudan, having emerged victorious in both previous clashes.
However, D’Tigers will be wary of Cape Verde, who have always been a tough opponent for the Nigerians, as both sides have met six times, with just one victory for the men from Abuja, thereby raising concern ahead of their final group game in this second round of the qualifiers.
Sports247 reports further that Nigeria’s 12-man squad for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers consists of Josh Okogie, Chimezie Metu, Chima Moneke, Caleb Agada, Stan Okoye, Ike Nwamu, Udoka Azubuike, Efe Abogidi, Ebuka Izundu, Manny Obaseki, Jordan Ogundiran and Paul Dibal.
They will try to emulate the female aquad; D’Tigress, who are now in phase these of their preparations for this year’s FIBA Women’s World Cup billed to take place on Berlin, Germany from September 4th to 13th.
