The National Under 17 Cricket Championship South-South Zone came to an end today with Edo Under 17 male team emerging as Champions after defeating Akwa Ibom Under 17 in the 40 Overs finals with nine wickets left.
The tournament hosted by Rivers State at the University of Portharcourt Cricket Pitch saw Six states in the South-South Zone compete to represent the Zone at the National Championships which will be staged in Edo State.
In the Female Under 17, held in Portharcourt, Rivers State, Team Edo State defeated host state Team Rivers in the finals of 20 Overs.
They will now represent the Zone in National Finals in the newly constructed turf wicket oval of Edo Boys High School, Benin City Edo State from Thursday 29th of January- Sunday 31st January 2021, while the Male Finals will begin Thursday, February 4th- Sunday, February 7th, 2021.
Meanwhile, the National Championships will see outstanding male players drafted into Nigeria Under 19 Cricket team while the female players selected will be drafted into The Nigeria Female Cricket team.
