Tandoh Advocates Corporate Packing For Sports Festival

Lagos State Sports Commission executive chairman, Dr. Kweku Tandoh has advocated a situation in which the National Sports Festival would be packaged in a corporate and marketable manner, in order to make it attractive for private funding.

Tandoh stated in a chat with sports247.ng that one way of putting an end to constant postponements and delays in staging the festival would be to have it privatized.

However, he acknowledged that, not until the festival is well packaged into an attractive product would the private sector be ready to step in take off the burden of hosting the sports gathering.

Tandoh warned that, until the rebranding is done, hosting the festival would continue to be a burden on states’ governments, which are very much already scared of bidding for the hosting right.

Tandoh added: “Planning for the festival starts from coming out with a clear blueprint on how the private sector can carry some of the weight.

“We need to find a way through which private investors can come into collaboration with state governments to make the hosting easier.”
