NWFL appoints Icheen as Coordinator for NWPL Play-off, Pro-League Competition

The board of the Nigeria Women Football League has appointed The Right Honourable Margaret Icheen, as the General Coordinator for the Nigeria Women Premier League Relegation Play-off and the NWFL Pro-League Competition in Abuja and Lokoja respectively.

The appointment was confirmed Tuesday afternoon by the Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League, Aisha Falode.

Falode noted that the appointment of Margaret Icheen was confirmed after due consideration of the excellent job she did last year as coordinator of the Pro-League Competition played in Abuja and Benin City, Edo State.

Falode, noted that, Margaret Icheen, who is the Vice-Chairman of the board of the Nigeria Women Football League and the Chairman of the Benue State Football Association, is most suitable for the job, because of her vast experience, dedication and commitment, especially as the board of the NWFL, wants to continue in its drive to take women’s football in Nigeria to another level.

The NWPL Relegation Play-Off which would see Dream Stars of Lagos, Invincible Angels of Gboko, Osun Babes of Osogbo and Kaduna Queens, battle for two slots to remain in the Premier League, has been scheduled to hold at the FIFA Goal Project Pitch, inside the Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on October 2, 2019.

While the NWFL Pro-League Competition which will be played as a zonal competition from October 3 to 7th, 2019 at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, would see four teams; Pelican Stars of Calabar, Police Female Machine of Uyo, Moje Queens of Ilaro and Olori Babes of Warri, battle for the two available tickets to gain promotion to play in the Premier League.
