NPFL: Supporters’ club task clubs on security at match venues

The Nigeria football supporters club have tasked Nigerian league sides to ensure better and tighter security at match venues.

It would be recalled that with the Nigeria professional football league into five games in the new season, it has recorded pockets of violence in several match venues and with attacks on match officials.

Speaking with sports247.ng, the national chairman of the NFSC, Rev. Samuel Ikpea expressed his dismay over the violent incidents at the match venues. Describing it as ‘unsavoury’ and also bad for the image of the game in the country.

Ikpea went on to charge the management of the league clubsides to take security of lives and properties at the venues seriously.

” It is a shame that the new football season has been replete with violent incidents at different match venues across the country,” he lamented.

” The clubs should ensure that better and adequate security are provided for the protection of lives and properties at the venues. Much more, a secured atmosphere would become attractive to fans and their families,” he further stressed.
