NFF: Nigeria football needs a revolution- Ogunbanjo

The Chairman of Nationwide league side, Phoenix Athletic Sports Club, Olalekan Ogunbanjo has stated that a structural and administrative ‘revolution’ is the panacea to the myriad of problems bedeviling Nigerian football.

In an exclusive chat with sports247.ng from his base in London, Ogunbanjo described the crises in Nigerian football as self- induced.

” Nigerian football is seriously suffering from what I would blame on self- aggrandisement, greed, corruption and egocentrism on the parts of our football administrators,” the boss of the Ekiti state based league side noted.

” I believe the solution is administrative revolution. We have to purge our football of the old hands who continue to flaunt their experiences and with nothing to show in terms development and growth of the game,” he stressed.

Continuing, he admonished young and dynamic football administrators to do more than criticism by contesting for seats on the boards of the different states football associations.

” Young and dynamic football administrators should do more than rhetorics and sitting on the fence. It is only by coming out to contest for seats on the boards of the states FAs that we can revolutionize our football. And also develop it in line with the best global practice,” he admonished.
