NIGERIAN FEMALE WRESTLERS JET OUT TO HAMMAMET FOR AFRICAN WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP

Ten female wrestlers will today Thursday morning jet out to Tunisia for African Wrestling Championship. President, Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Daniel Ighali announced this that the ten female wrestlers and two officials will leave Nigeria for Hammamet in Tunisia for 2019 African Wrestling Championship.

 

Sports247.ng gathers that the first batch of Nigeria contingent will fly Turkish Airlines on Thursday from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos for Hammamet, Tunisia the host city of the 2019 African Wrestling Championship.

 

Daniel Igali therefore expressed displeasure for lack of funds for the Nigerian contingent stated that the Federation still need about $34,000 for their accommodation and participation fees in order to have a hitch-free participation.

 

The President told sports247.ng that they were to raise the accommodation and competition fees for the athletes adding that they will leave for Tunisia today and said that the Federation we wait for the release of funds from the Ministry of Sports for athletes and officials allowances and other expenses.

In his words,
“Ten female athletes and two officials leave to Hammamet via Lagos on Turkish airlines tomorrow for the African championships. Sunday, “We are really struggling, we still need to raise about $34000 by tomorrow
“We were only able to raise enough for their accommodation and competition fees.
“Meanwhile, we are waiting for funds from the ministry for athletes allowances and other expenses.”
