Nigeria’s representatives have made a commanding start at the 2026 CAVB Zone 3 Volleyball Club Championship in Ghana, with the Nigeria Customs Service Volleyball Team and Vipers Volleyball Club delivering dominant performances across both women’s and men’s categories.

In the women’s competition, Nigeria Customs Service opened their campaign with a strong 3-1 victory (22-25, 25-18, 25-13, 25-20) over Ghana Immigration Volleyball Club.
The reigning CGC Volleyball Premier League champions followed up with a clinical 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-8) triumph against AS Douanes VC, underlining their title ambitions.
Vipers VC, champions of the 2025 National Division 1, were equally ruthless. They dispatched Dynamic VC 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) before overpowering Sonabel VC 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20), showcasing depth and cohesion.
In the men’s event, Nigeria Customs Service maintained momentum with a straight-sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-17) win over All Stars VC, reinforcing Nigeria’s strong presence at the regional championship.
Team officials have expressed confidence in their squads. Vipers VC Team Manager, Jabar Suraj Abiodun, praised his players for their intensity and discipline, stating that the team’s objective in Ghana is clear — return home with the trophy.
Team captain Esther Mbah also commended the club’s management for ensuring participation at the championship, noting that the experience would further sharpen the squad ahead of the 2026 CGC Volleyball Premier League season.
Meanwhile, Sports Director of the Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, attributed the teams’ performances to sustained institutional support, crediting Comptroller General Adewale Adeniyi and the management for consistent investment and player motivation.
With early victories secured and momentum firmly on their side, Nigeria’s clubs have positioned themselves as serious contenders. The mission is straightforward: replicate last year’s continental success and bring another trophy back home.
