New York Knicks’ Coach Mike Brown Awaits Doctor’s Report On OG Anunoby’s Injury

New York Knicks’ Nigerian-born star, Ogugua ‘OG’ Anunoby is out injured, but his coach at the National Basketball Association (NBA) outfit, Mike Brown is still awaiting a diagnosis from the club’s doctor, Sports247 reports.

The development comes after Anunoby, who plays for Great Britain, copped a right leg injury late in the fourth quarter of his team’s 108-102 victory over Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2 of the NBA play-offs.

Anunoby pulled up and reached for the back of his right leg as he went for the basket in the fourth quarter, after he received a pass from Josh Hart and rose for a two-handed dunk, only to be blocked at the rim by Paul George.

After Anunoby’s dunk attempt was blocked by George, Mikal Bridges hit a big clutch jumper to put The Knicks six up in a 105-99 lead, but the Nigerian-born star was clearly hobbling as he headed back down the court on defence.

He appeared to be calling to The Knicks’ bench to check out of the game, so Coach Brown called timeout and sent on Miles ‘Deuce’ McBride, who would play the final two minutes and 31 seconds of the contest.

Anunoby would head back to the locker room, limping all the way, and Brown later told reporters that he did not have an immediate update on the injury status of Anunoby, but acknowledged the player was in serious pain.

“You know, I haven’t talked to anybody. They didn’t say anything. He looked like he was hopping. I have not talked to medical yet. I just know that he left the game, so I was like, ‘Deuce!’ And I turned and looked, and he wasn’t back.

“Nobody said he was back. So I have not talked to anybody yet, but he wasn’t — did he even come back on the bench? No,” said Brown, who also admitted that the early exit brought a premature end to Anunoby’s 24 points on 9-for-17 shooting.

He was also looking good with 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 2 assists and 1 block but no turnovers, as The Knicks outscored The Sixers by 12 points in his 37 minutes of work, continuing a stellar start to the 2026 NBA playoffs for the nine-year veteran.
