Nigeria’s Maktown Flyers ended their Basketball Africa League (BAL) campaign on a disappointing note following a 79–62 defeat to Senegalese side ASC Ville de Dakar, who secured the final playoff spot.
In a decisive Sahara Conference encounter in Rabat, Maktown entered the game needing a win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

However, they were outplayed by a composed Dakar team that asserted control early and maintained their dominance throughout the contest.
The Nigerian side struggled to match their opponents’ physicality and execution, quickly falling behind and failing to mount any meaningful comeback.
The loss confirmed Maktown’s elimination, ending their campaign with a 1–4 record after a promising start to the tournament.
For Dakar, the victory marked an impressive resurgence. After losing their opening two games, they responded with three straight wins under pressure to finish 3–2 and book their place in the Final 8.
ASC Ville de Dakar will now advance to Kigali, Rwanda, where the BAL Playoffs are set to begin on June 6.
The top four teams from both the Sahara and Kalahari Conferences will battle for the continental title.
While Dakar celebrate qualification,
Maktown Flyers exit the competition with valuable experience, hoping to regroup and return stronger in future editions.
