36 Lion Football Club started its campaign on Jagaban Cup on a winning note following 2-0 victory over Messiah Football Club in the group a opening match.
Although 36 Lion also lost 1-2 to MFM in their second match which played this afternoon at the Onikan Stadium,Lagos Island.
Smart City also defeated Olukismet FC of Ekiti 2-1, while De Potters FC humbled Badagry United 2-0 as FC Bethel managed to beat Jo Sportyne 1-0.
Some of the coaches who spoke to sports 247.ng commended the organisers for the scouting football competition which would come to an end on Friday saying that the officiating is quite impressive.
36 Lion coach, Shola Akinrele said his players played better in their first game but blamed their defeat against MFM in the second match as a result of fatigue on the part of his players.
“We did well in the first game but my players appeared tired in their second game which cost our defeat.We have four points out of two games and I am.optimistic that we would do well in our remaining matches,”he said.
Messaih coach Tunde Olayinka said their defeat in the opening match was a wake up call and boasted that his players would bounce back in their next game against Badagry United.
“It was not a good start for us but we need to up our game so that we can get good results in our remaining matches.We would go back home and prepare for our next game on Wednesday,”he said.
