Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has attempted to calm tensions surrounding Nigerian midfielder Christantus Uche after reports of a disagreement between both men.
The issue emerged after Uche suggested that the Palace coach no longer trusted him, following a difficult campaign in England since arriving on loan from Getafe CF.
“It was never personal,” Glasner said.
According to the Palace manager, injuries and squad planning were the major reasons behind the midfielder being left out of the club’s Conference League squad.
“It had nothing to do with dislike,” he implied.
Glasner acknowledged that Uche’s season has been frustrating, particularly with limited opportunities and fitness setbacks affecting his rhythm.
“It has been difficult for him,” he noted.
However, the Austrian coach insisted that the situation should not be interpreted as a breakdown in their relationship.
“We still have a professional relationship,” he added.
For Glasner, balancing squad depth and competition inevitably leads to difficult decisions throughout a season.
“You cannot keep everyone happy,” he stressed.
The manager also expressed hope that Uche can continue working hard and regain momentum moving forward.
“He must stay focused,” he said.
The situation has sparked conversations among supporters about player management and communication within squads.
For Glasner, the message is clear.
The decision was tactical.
Not personal.
And professionalism remains important.
Because in football, difficult moments are often part of a player’s development journey.
