Former Nigeria international Chikelue Iloenyosi has officially confirmed his intention to contest for a position on the board of the Nigeria Football Federation as the South East representative at the upcoming elective congress.
Speaking on his ambition, the current chairman of the Anambra State Football Association expressed confidence that his experience and relationships within Nigerian football can help drive development in the region.
“I’m ready to serve,” he said.
According to Iloenyosi, his close relationship with NFF president Ibrahim Musa Gusau has already contributed positively to football matters involving the South East.
“We already have good working ties,” he implied.
The former defender pointed to the appointment of Fidelis Ilechukwu as assistant coach of the Super Eagles as one example of growing recognition for football talents from the region.
“It shows progress,” he noted.
Iloenyosi believes his presence on the federation board would help attract greater attention to football development across the South East.
“The region deserves more focus,” he added.
For the former international, grassroots football development and stronger administrative representation remain key priorities.
“We must develop football properly,” he stressed.
The upcoming NFF elective congress is expected to generate significant political interest across Nigerian football circles.
For Iloenyosi, the message is clear.
The South East needs stronger representation.
Development must increase.
And football administration should benefit every region equally.
Because progress in Nigerian football depends on inclusive leadership and regional growth.
