Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has admitted he contemplated retirement during his lengthy injury battle, describing the ordeal as the toughest period of his professional career.
The OGC Nice forward, who spent the second half of last season on loan at FC Porto, opened up about the mental and physical challenges he faced while recovering from a serious injury.
Moffi revealed there were moments when he questioned whether he would ever return to his best level.
“There was a time I thought about retirement,” Moffi said.
The striker explained that the severity of the injury made the recovery process particularly difficult, admitting it was unlike anything he had experienced since becoming a professional footballer.
“It was the hardest period of my career,” he added.
According to Moffi, the uncertainty surrounding his recovery created doubts that he had never previously encountered.
The Super Eagles forward spent months working his way back to full fitness before eventually returning to action.
Despite the setbacks, Moffi said he never completely lost his desire to play football and remained determined to overcome the challenge.
“I feel much better now,” he stated.
The 26-year-old also made it clear that he still has ambitions of competing at the highest level for both club and country.
“I still want to keep playing at the highest level possible,” he said.
Moffi returned to the Super Eagles setup after recovering from the injury and has continued rebuilding his fitness ahead of the new season.
The striker remains part of Nigeria’s plans as the national team continues preparations for future competitions under coach Eric Chelle.
