The Fulham defender spoke about the strong relationship shared by the UK-based contingent within the national team, highlighting the influence of experienced figures such as William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi and Ola Aina.
Bassey admitted that being one of the younger members of the group has allowed him to benefit from the experiences of players who have spent years at the highest level.
“They’ve helped me a lot since I joined the team,” Bassey said.
The defender explained that conversations with his senior teammates often extend beyond football.
According to Bassey, the advice he receives covers discipline, career management and life away from the game.
“They talk to me about football, finances and making the right decisions,” he added.
Bassey revealed that the close-knit relationship among the players has created a positive atmosphere within the Super Eagles camp.
The defender described the group as a family, with senior players constantly looking out for the younger members of the squad.
“As the youngest among them, I learn a lot every time we’re together,” he stated.
The 25-year-old has become one of the key figures in Nigeria’s defence and remains an important part of the squad under head coach Eric Chelle.
Bassey credited the guidance from his teammates as one of the factors that has helped him mature both on and off the pitch throughout his international career.
