Nigerian athlete Charles Godfred has capped a remarkable collegiate campaign with First Team All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, rounding off a season defined by consistency, personal milestones, and standout performances across multiple events.

Sports247 reports that Godfred emerged as one of the most impressive Nigerian athletes competing in the United States this year, showcasing his versatility in both the sprints and horizontal jumps.
His performances throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons reflected steady progression and established him as a rising talent with aspirations of representing Nigeria on the global stage.
The indoor season saw Godfred produce a string of outstanding performances in the 60 metres, consistently breaking the 6.70-second barrier.
He clocked times of 6.65 seconds, 6.62 seconds, and a personal best of 6.61 seconds, demonstrating the explosive speed that would carry into his outdoor campaign.
Maintaining that momentum, Godfred regularly posted times in the 10.2-second range in the 100 metres before delivering one of the highlights of his season at the Big Ten Championships.
There, he sprinted to a wind-assisted 9.88 seconds (+5.6m/s) to secure the bronze medal and underline his sprinting potential.
His success extended beyond the track to the long jump, where he concluded the season by earning First Team All-American honors at the NCAA Championships.
Godfred finished eighth in the men’s competition with a best leap of 7.83 metres, capping an impressive year of development and achievement.
Reflecting on the recognition, the Nigerian athlete described the accomplishment as particularly meaningful after overcoming challenges during the season.
“It’s meant a lot to me. Despite the ups and downs, I still made my school and myself proud, including my family,” Godfred said.
Looking ahead, the talented athlete has set his sights on competing for Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games, expressing his desire to wear the national colours on the international stage.
With a season featuring personal bests, championship medals, and All-American recognition, Godfred has strengthened his credentials as one of Nigeria’s promising athletics prospects.
