Dannaz Ladies FC of Lagos captain, Fatimoh Solaty led by example on Wednesday by netting the first goal in her side’s 3-2 victory away to Remo Stars Queens of Ikenne, Sports247 reports.
Dannaz, who are ninth of the table, needed the match at Remo Stars Stadium to help them avoid relegation on the last day of this season in the Nigerian Women’s Football League (NWFL).

Although Remo Stars, who are sixth on the log, scored first, they moved their feet off the pedal and Dannaz took full advantage of the hosts’ lack of zeal to snatch an unexpected away win.
Zainab Raji scored the Lagos-based side’s second goal, while Ajoke Akinbo made it three, before Remo pulled one back through an own goal, at the end of which Solaty admitted it was good to end on a high.
The lass from Kwara State, who grew up in Ilasamaja area of Lagos and attended Itire Community High School, told Sports247 that she feels elated being able to uplift the club she has played for since her academy days.
She also revealed how much inspiration she gains from seeing the progress of a close pal, Joshua Obatimi in Egypt and Rofiat Imuran at London City Ladies FC of England, who both make her believe she will also soon take her career abroad.
She added, “I am happy that my team won this match, and I scored. It’s a good way to end the season. I dedicate it to everyone who has been encouraging me.
“I thank Obatimi Joshua and my Big Aunty, Rofiat Imuran. I believe that I, too, will soon start playing abroad like them. I pray it will happen soon.
“I want to succeed in football – so that I can feed my family, give back to society and make my country proud. I just want to be myself, not to copy any other player.”
