Following the successful hosting of the 19th edition of the National Sports Festival in Abuja which ended on Sunday, the minister of Youths and Sports Bar. Solomon Dalung announced Edo state as host of the next edition of the festival in 2020 after bids from four other states.
Dalung said the choice of Edo was done after a thorough evaluation by the organizing committee set up to look at the interests from the bidding states. To win the hosting rights, Edo beat Delta, I’m and Cross River State to claim the rights.
He also stated that the ministry will keep on monitoring the technical proceedings which will help them avoid the occurrence of the previous edition that took six years to host.
Dalung also revealed why the state was selected. “Edo was chosen after it has clearly shown that it understands what is needed and required of it in hosting the festival.
