Customs Service Sports Secretary Samuel Onikeku Reveals Secrets Of Team’s Dominance In Volleyball Premier League

The sports secretary of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Samuel Onikeku has revealed secrets behind the successful outings by the agency’s male and female teams in the first phase of the 3rd CGC Volleyball Premier League in Abuja.

Sports247 reports that Onikeku revealed after both squads topped their various classifications that it was basically down to high-level encouragement they are receiving from the Customs Service, led by Comptroller-General Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

Onikeku attributed the performances to unrelenting backing from Adeniyi, who is also the president of Nigerian Wrestling Federation (NWF), as he never stops showing his passion for sports by contributing personal funds for the team’s progress.

While also revealing the huge amount of support Adeniyi receives from other members of the Customs’ management, Onikeku disclosed further that the NSC’s sports authorities are already making plans for an even bigger impact on the continental level.

He spoke after the Customs’ men won all 12 matches to accumulate 36 points, dropped just two sets and concluded with a 3-0 win against COAS Spikers, who placed second on 29 points, ahead of CNS Spikers, NSCDC and Kano Pillars.

In the women’s category, Customs finished first with 34 points despite giving up a two-set lead in a 3-2 loss to COAS Spikers, who finished second with just a point less, while NSCDC placed third on 31 points, followed by VIP and CNS Spikers.

Onikeku retorted, “The players have no choice but to show gratitude through their performances. We are happy that the men’s team has gone unbeaten, while the ladies are also topping the league. Investment in our teams is something we are proud of.”
