Francis who was elected as a council member into the Badminton Confederation Africa (BCA) at the world congress that took place in May at Kualar Lumpur, Malaysia allayed that there will be a new reformations and restructuring in Badminton in the country with plans in place for a grassroot talent discovery tournament.

Addressing the issue of election, Francis revealed that the federation is carrying the Lagos State government along concerning the election and they have acknowledged the request laid before them as discussions continue.

“We are going to see and hear more concerning badminton before the COVID and we are going to start the grassroot program again, we will go to every zone, we want to focus on technical crew, quality officiating and making sure all personnel in badminton know their designated duties and responsibilities,” he said in an interview with top sports Journalist, Godwin Enakhena.

“It’s a popular saying in the Nigeria sports sector that you don’t carry people along. The work is enormous and you can’t do it alone unless you want to break your back, the work is much and the labourers are few, people are expecting returns without wanting to give anything and when people who want to do it voluntarily are doing it, those that want to do it for a pay are grumbling.”

“The crisis is because we deal with different agendas and motives. Some expectations are so high that can not be managed. We have a huge trust issue in Nigeria and it’s not all about the money we will share, that mindset no matter how hard you try will make so difficult, that’s what they will do when they get to that position so they expect that that’s what people are doing there,” he clarified on dissatisfaction on his administration and fund management.

On the personnel training, “the secretaries quiet a number of them in the past, they were far better than what we have today, they are not properly trained and quiet a number of times out of ignorance, they are not able to do their job well so we want to train them properly.”

Clarifying the situation of investing personal money into the federation and his wife disposition; ‘it’s a major concern and if you were in her shoes, you would feel bad, my children are growing and how would they feel when their father’s name are misaligned and sometimes, I sit and ask myself that what’s the point of the whole sacrifice, it’s just a lot of things to take in I must admit,” Francis Orbih concluded.
