Rivers United Wins In South Africa As Enyimba Falls In Sudan

Enyimba Fc of Aba today lost 3-0 to El Meireikh of Sudan in the first leg of their CAF Champions League clash played today.

The Peoples Elephant suffered an humiliating 3-0 1st leg defeat to the Sudanese giants today to reduce their chances of making it to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

Saif Terry scored an hat trick (3 goals) in the encounter to give the Sudanese side a massive 3 goals advantage and a huge boost, going into the return leg in Nigeria.

With that defeat, the two time CAF Champions League winners will need to score four (4) unreplyed goals in the return leg in Nigeria to stand any chance of qualifying for the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United flew Nigeria’s flag high with a convincing 2-0 1st leg away win over Bloemfontein Celtic in South Africa.

Godwin Aguda and Fortune Omoniwari scored the two goals for Stanley Eguma’s side as they emerge victorious in South Africa today placing them in good position of qualifying for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup, ahead of the return leg in Nigeria.

Rivers United will only need to avoid defeat of a two-goal margin to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.
