Babatunde seeks to win CAF Champions League with Wydad Casablanca

Nigeria and Wydad Casablanca midfielder Michael Babatunde is looking forward to playing in the CAF Champions League final after his team defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-final.

Wydad will be up against defending champions, Esperance in the final later this month and Babatunde expects it to be a different challenge from what they faced in the semi-final.

“It’s a 50-50, even if they are said to be the best team in Africa, everyone has this feeling with Esperance that they’re going to roll over everyone. We have to take them on and play the way we did in the semi-final,” Babatunde said.

“If we play the way we did against Mamelodi Sundowns, with the focus and determination plus the ability we have in our team we have to believe we have a chance of winning.”

Babatunde and his Wydad teammates are entitled to $10,000 each for getting to the finals of the CAF Champions League.

The final against Esperance is two legged – with the first leg away from home on 24th May, while the second leg come up a week later at the Stade Mohammed.
