Female basketball national team, D’;Tigress star, Nkem Akaraiwe has declared a need for gender equality in the wage structure of Nigerian male and female players.
Making her thought known in a chat with sports247.ng, Akaraiwe stated that she believes a time is at hand that equality will come across board.
Although critics insists there is no hope the nearest future will see any drastic improvement in wage disparity between women and men sports in Nigeria, Akaraiwe believes the desire change will soon come.
Akaraiwe stressed: “I am calling for a change to the wage structure in Nigerian sport, because we need to show fairness.
“The way it is, I know it is a systemic problem, which many people fear might continue, but I want to keep believing that a change will soon come.”
