The battle for supremacy in Nigerian flag football is gathering momentum, and Lagos is preparing for another electrifying Sunday as the Showtime Flag Football League stages Gameweek 5 of Showtime Bowl Series XV at Showtime Arena, Meadow Hall, Lekki, on October 25, 2026.
With defending champions Lagos Knights, former titleholders Abia Warriors and eight other ambitious teams entering another crucial round, the stakes are rising.
Five matches promise fierce rivalries, spectacular touchdowns and potentially decisive moments in the race for championship glory.
The headline confrontation sees Delta Panthers challenge defending champions Lagos Knights. Quarterback Kayode Mafe remains the man to watch after throwing six touchdown passes for the Knights in their recent 5v5 Cup victory over Gateway Horns.
But the Panthers, led by quarterback Jite Ughojor, have every reason to believe they can disrupt the champions’ momentum.
Gateway Horns face Rivers Alphas in another intriguing contest, with both sides desperate to establish authority. The Horns will be seeking a stronger response after their heavy Cup defeat to the Knights, while the Alphas have their own point to prove following a difficult outing against Lagos Rebels.
Cross River Ikan Sports meet Ibom Raptors in a potentially explosive encounter. Raptors quarterback Taiwo Oluwalanu and receiver Titilayo Happiness Abanikanda arrive with impressive recent Cup performances, but Ikan Sports will be determined to prevent another attacking spectacle at their expense.
Lagos Greenbacks against Abia Warriors offers another compelling storyline. Greenbacks quarterback Oluremi Jedidiah and receiver Obiekezie Chiamaka, who scored twice against Delta Braves in the Cup, face a Warriors side featuring dangerous receiver Jordan Nathaniel.
The final fixture brings Delta Braves against Lagos Rebels, whose quarterback Sulaimon Alhameen recently delivered four touchdown passes in a remarkable 56–0 Cup victory over Rivers Alphas.
The stakes extend beyond one Sunday. Showtime’s ambitious Season XV calendar runs towards the championship final on May 2, 2027, as flag football prepares for its Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028.
For Lagos sports lovers, this is more than another weekend fixture. It is an opportunity to witness Nigeria’s emerging flag football stars, experience the atmosphere and support the teams driving the sport forward.
Be at Showtime Arena this Sunday. Bring your friends, bring your energy and experience the action firsthand.
