A/Starlets unveil coach King as new Technical Adviser

CAF football coaching A-license holder, coach Emmanuel King, has been unveiled as new Technical Adviser of Uyo-based NNL side, Akwa Starlets football club. The Etinan-born football tactician who will be making a second stint as the helmsman of the club was presented to the public on Tuesday, February 5.

In a brief presentation ceremony which was held at Uyo Township Stadium, the Chairman of Akwa Starlets, Coach Aniedi Dickson, described King’s appointment as ‘apt’. He thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko for the support which the club has earned over the years and promised to offer a ‘free hand’ to coach King in order to enable him succeed.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on sports, Elder Paul Bassey, who represented of the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, expressed delight at the choice of King whose credentials he described as intimidating. Mr. Bassey who is also the Chairman of Akwa United FC used the occasion to urge all sports stakeholders in the state to vote en masse for the second term ambition of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

In their separate remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Coach Lawrence Iquaibom, pledged the Ministry’s readiness to offer coach King all the support he will be needing in order to succeed as the club’s helmsman while the state Chairman of Sports Writers’ Association (SWAN) promised the wholehearted cooperation of journalists in the state towards a successful stay in office for the former Akpabio Stars and Fortune FC coach.

In his response, Coach Emmanuel King said he was overwhelmed at the show of love he has so far enjoyed from relevant stakeholders and pledged his resolve to work hard to reward the faith which has been reposed in him with tangible on-and off-the-field successes.

Coach Emmanuel Moses King, who is a holder of M.Sc in Public and Health Education from the University of Uyo, will be taking over from coach Godfrey Esu whose contract expired at the end of last season.
