Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare has received a heartwarming summer transfer lifeline from Fiorentina of Italy, following his lost opportunities at Wolverhampton Wanderers of England, where he has been declared surplus to requirements, Sports247 reports.
While Arokodare’s exit from Wolves appeared inevitable all along, sequel to his inability to stamp his feet into the club’s mainframe during their ill-fated camapaign last season in the English Premier League, the striker surprisingly snubbed an offer from Trabzonspor of Turkey.
A deal with the Trabzon-based Tiurkish Super Lig outfit would have seen Arokodare team up with twp of his compatriots – Paul Ebere Onuachu and Chibuike Nwaiwu – at last season’s Cup-winners, but the former RKC Genk of Belgium top scorer opted to seek his fortune elsewhere.
A new lease of life now appears on the horizon for Arokodare, with the offer from Fiorentina coming almost at the same time information emerged that the dark-skinned giant striker had been left out of Wolves’ roster for their pre-season training camp in Portugal.
A report by Sky Sports News added, “Wolves previously rejected loan offers from Fiorentina and Trabzonspor, while several other clubs remain interested in the forward. The situation leaves the striker’s future unresolved, as Wolves prepare for the new season.
“(However,) with potential interest from multiple clubs likely to shape the next stage of his career, Fiorentina are expected to make an improved offer for the Nigerian, as they look to secure his services (after) the player has reportedly ruled out a move to Trabzonspor.
“The Nigeria international is expected to leave Molineux, following Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League, and he is prioritising a move to one of Europe’s top five leagues. Trabzonspor have already submitted an official bid, but the 25-year-old is not considering a switch to Turkey.”
However, Sports247 learnt further that Fiorentina’s first offer to get Arokodare on loan was rejected by Wolves last week, as the striker remains under contract until 2029, with the Molineux club holding an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.
