It was excitement galore at the start of this week, as Bobby’s Football Academy of Ikenne turned out the best of their young talents in an inter-city friendly match against visiting Agba FC of Odogbolu on the playground of the legendary Mayflower School, Sports247 reports.
The encounter, which took place at the government-owned section of the ancient school, was tagged a ‘mid-year developmental friendly match’ by Coach Kehinde Yisa Abdulaganiyu, whose squad is largely regarded as the feeder team of Remo Stars FC of Ikenne.
Coach Kenny’s side made the best of home advantage to win the game 2-1 against their visitors, who were formerly known as Kay FC, with Bobby’s Football Academy’s first goal coming from Ogbaji Joseph and the second by Edet Samson with a header.
Although both goals came in the second half, ‘Coach Kenny’ gave kudos to his captain, Saturday Victor, who is also their goalkeeper, for marshalling his squad into a gallant display that saw them hold firm under pressure from their visitors, who were determined to leave Ikenne with victory.
“I am happy that we were able to win this match, because the opponents really played well. They were tough, but my team eventually won, because we were dominant with 70% to 30% of possession. Though they scored against us, I am happy that we still won the match 2-1.
“I am also happy that my boys did not panic when the oppoents scored. My boys stayed focused and maintained our game plan from beginning to the end. It was a good test for us, as we are preparing for a major tournament in Ijebu-Ode,” Coach Kenny said in a chat with Sports247.
