Samuel Chukwueze’s stunning performance last weekend for AC Milan has caught the attention of former Serie A coach Fabio Capello, who believes the Super Eagles star is a completely different player, Sports247 reports.
Although the former Villareal of Spain winger, who featured on loan at Fulham last season, played in an unusual right-wing-back role, he dazzled so brilliantly that a wave of superlatives is still trailing his performance across the football world.
Joining the accolades is Capello, who is also a former handler of Real Madrid of Spain and England’s national team, and he went a step further to attribute Chukwueze’s resurgence to the tactical inputs of former Manchester United tactician, Ruben Amorim, who is now with Milan.
Despite playing out of position, Chukwueze earlier scored one and provided two assists against Manchester United during pre-season, following which the product of Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia stepped up with another assist and top-notch performance last weekend in the Serie A.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist ended up getting named Man of the Match for his majestic display in Milan’s 2-1 win over AS Torino, and Capello has now linked Chukwueze’s transformation with the tactical strategies Amorim has introduced to the team.
With a short expression about the 26-year-old Chukwueze, Capello praised the coach’s impact and the Italian tactician told Liverscore.com: “Moving on to AC Milan, however, we’ve already begun to see some of Amorim’s influence, starting with a very intense first half.
“The Rossoneri have already shown a desire to implement what their coach asks of them: a game plan, for a real match from the start. Speaking of which, Chukwueze certainly deserves a mention, as he struck me as a completely different player than he was two years ago.”
