This was revealed by the school’s director of sports, Akerele Oluwatobi, who stated that they want to step up from their biggest achievements of 2025 and do much better this year.
Oluwatobi disclosed further in a chat with Sports247 that everyone at Wellspring College still have fond memories of how they won silver at last year’s Iludin Games as well as gold in both female and male categories of Dansol Cup for football.
He went on to reveal that they also won bronze in Dansol Cup Basketball as well as at York University Toronto Invitational Basketball Championship, all of which he hopes will motivate them to excel during their upcoming outings this year.
Among the competition’s that Wellspring College are already preparing to participate in are Private School U16 Games and Akofa Basketball Ivy League, both of which Oluwatobi believes the school’s contingent will excel in.
He concluded by sending a cogent message to Nigeria’s sports officials and administrators, who he believes have major roles to play in ensuring that the country’s vast array of budding talents are encouraged to achieve great things in the future.
Oluwatobi stated philosophically, “Nigeria’s sports administrators and officials are the backbone of our athletes’ success. They will excel through the vision, integrity and affectiveness of our leaders.
“The commitment of our administrators can help us shape the future of Nigerian sports. By prioritizing fairness, professionalism and adequate athlete welfare, they will ignite excellence that will lead to national pride.
“Our athletes too should always be united, stay focused and keep on working harder. As they do that, our administrators should continue building systems that allow our talents to shine on the world stage.”
