The stage is set for another electrifying clash of pride and power as the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) rekindle their long-standing football rivalry in the grand finale of the 5th Ogun SWAN Security Cup on Friday at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta.
The Police Machine, known for their commanding presence on and off the pitch, have once again proven their mettle, cruising into the final after a ruthless 5-0 demolition of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the semi-final.

On the other hand, the resilient NSCDC side booked their ticket with a narrow but decisive 1-0 victory over the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) team.
This final marks yet another chapter in the fierce footballing rivalry between both security agencies — a rivalry that has shaped the competition’s history since its inception.
In 2021, NSCDC claimed bragging rights in the maiden edition, edging out the Police Machine 1-0 to lift the trophy. But the pendulum has since swung, with the Police side exacting revenge in 2023, defeating NSCDC 2-1 to pocket the ₦500,000 top prize.
Their dominance continued in 2024 when they ousted their rivals via a tense 4-2 penalty shootout in the semi-final.
This year’s edition has been no less dramatic. The Police Machine already defeated NSCDC 4-3 in a pulsating group-stage encounter — a result that adds extra heat to Friday’s final.
With both teams displaying strength, grit, and tactical discipline, football fans and security enthusiasts alike are anticipating a blockbuster finale that could go down as one of the fiercest in the tournament’s five-year history.
Organized by the Ogun State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the annual Security Cup has become a symbolic celebration of unity, fitness, and camaraderie among the nation’s security agencies.
The final kicks off by 2 p.m. on Friday, promising 90 minutes of passion, rivalry, and bragging rights in the heart of Abeokuta.
