Head coach of Nasarawa United, Mangut Mbwas, has applauded his players for their determination and steady progress following their impressive 2–1 comeback victory over Enugu Rangers on Sunday in Lafia — a result that extended the Solid Miners’ unbeaten streak to five matches in the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The crucial win kept Nasarawa United firmly at the summit of the NPFL standings with 19 points from eight games, four clear of second-placed Abia Warriors.

Speaking after the match, Mbwas attributed the victory to the team’s hard work, focus, and tactical discipline, stressing that every member of the squad is contributing to their strong start.
“I feel very happy with today’s result, more so that my team keeps improving every day,” Mbwas said. “The game wasn’t entirely smooth, but you don’t expect all matches to go the same way — opponents will always have their own moments.”
Despite a shaky first half, the coach praised his players for their spirited response after the break.
“It was a tough first half, but we regrouped and came out stronger. The reaction from my boys was positive, and we got the second goal that sealed the win,” he noted.
On officiating, Mbwas remained diplomatic, saying, “We had some penalty calls that didn’t go our way, but the referee is human, and his decisions are final. We respect that.”
The Nasarawa United boss also emphasized his preference for a balanced attacking approach rather than relying on a single player for goals.
“I have different goalscorers in my team because we don’t rely on one player. We train everyone to be a goalscorer — it makes the job easier,” he added.
Looking ahead, Mbwas expressed confidence ahead of their next away fixture against Ikorodu City FC in Lagos, while urging for improved travel logistics to ease players’ fatigue.
“We’ve built the team’s confidence so much that we can win anywhere,” he said. “It’s a long trip to Lagos, and we hope the authorities consider ways to ease the travel stress. But we won’t dwell on excuses — we’ll stay self-motivated and push toward our goals.”
While playing down early talks of continental qualification, Mbwas said the team’s immediate focus remains on maintaining consistency.
“The league is still fresh, even though we’ve gathered some important points after Matchday 8. Our target is to remain among the top three by the end of the campaign,” he concluded.
With Nasarawa United’s current momentum and a growing sense of belief in the camp, the Solid Miners appear ready to mount a strong challenge in this season’s NPFL race
