The course aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in sports medicine — a growing field crucial to the development and safety of athletes at all levels.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Ngilangwa commended TASMA for its dedication to improving the standards of sports medicine in Tanzania. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s vision of professionalizing sports and ensuring athletes receive proper medical care during training and competitions.
“The knowledge gained from this course is vital in safeguarding the health and performance of our athletes,” Ngilangwa said. “I commend TASMA for this effort and urge the association to extend this program to other regions so that every corner of our nation benefits from sports medicine expertise.”
Participants received certificates of participation, recognizing their successful completion of the course. TASMA officials also reiterated their commitment to expanding the initiative nationwide, with plans already underway to conduct similar training sessions in other zones to bridge the gap in sports health expertise.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, Dr. Lilian Mwakalukwa praised the organizers for the well-structured sessions, noting that the course had broadened their understanding of injury prevention, athlete rehabilitation, and nutrition management.
The Tanzania Sports Medicine Association has pledged to continue partnering with relevant sports and health bodies to promote athlete welfare and ensure medical best practices across all sporting disciplines.
