Zimbabwe Captain Adel Zimunu Promises Response After Defeat To Nigeria

Captain of Zimbabwe Women High Performance, Adel Zimunu, has admitted her side fell below expectations following their defeat to Nigeria at the ongoing Kwibuka Women’s T20 Tournament in Kigali.

Reacting after the loss to the Nigeria women’s national cricket team, Zimunu acknowledged that Zimbabwe failed to perform at their usual standards with both bat and ball.

“We did not play to the level we expected,” Zimunu said.

According to the Zimbabwe captain, mistakes in key moments of the game ultimately proved costly against a determined Nigerian side.

“We were below our standards in important areas,” she implied.

Zimunu admitted that her team struggled to execute their plans effectively throughout the contest.

“We know we can perform much better than we showed,” she noted.

The skipper stressed that the team would immediately begin reviewing the performance to identify areas requiring improvement.

“We will go back and analyse our mistakes,” she added.

Despite the setback, Zimunu remains confident that Zimbabwe can recover and produce stronger displays in the remaining fixtures.

“We will make the necessary adjustments and improve,” she stressed.

The defeat came after Nigeria produced an impressive response to their opening loss, securing a convincing seven-wicket victory behind strong performances from captain Favour Eseigbe and her teammates.

“Zimbabwe remain a competitive side despite the result,” many cricket observers believe.

The team will now look to regroup and revive their campaign as the tournament continues.

For Adel Zimunu, the message is clear.

Zimbabwe were below their best.

Mistakes must be corrected quickly.

And the team remains determined to bounce back stronger in the upcoming matches.

Because successful teams learn from setbacks and use them as motivation for improvement.
